Welcome to the Emerson Umbrella

The Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts is located in historic Concord, Massachusetts. We are a non-profit cultural organization committed to nurturing and encouraging the arts throughout the community.

We provide:

  • Studio Space for more than 60 artists in the former Emerson School building in Concord and in the former Highland School in neighboring Carlisle
    Classes and Workshops for children and adults in four large teaching studios
    Exhibition space in the Blanchard Trust Gallery
    Community Arts Initiatives including the Musketaquid Arts & Environment program, the Concord Arts Quarterly, and the Concord Poetry Center
    Performance space for all disciplines in the 435-seat Emerson Umbrella Theater, including a series of events under the banner Emerson Umbrella Presents

If you want to enjoy an art festival, come to the exhibition, visit our performance.

Emerson Umbrella’s facilities at 40 Stow Street, including the Emerson Umbrella Theater, are wheelchair accessible from the rear entrance, adjacent to the designated parking spaces.
